Our Mission

To create a world where every individual feels valued, understood, and empowered to seek help and live a life with hope and purpose.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every individual feels supported, valued, and equipped to navigate life’s challenges, with expanded access to mental health resources, impactful programs like Camp Joy, and an ever-growing network of compassionate community members.

Our History

A Pathway to Joy began as a heartfelt response to personal loss and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Founded by 16 year old Hannah Jahshan, the nonprofit emerged from her journey of healing after losing a dear friend to suicide. This loss sparked a calling to raise awareness about mental health and to create a community where people could find hope and healing. Initially, the organization focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness, hosting events like the Steps Against Suicide 5k Walk and Mental Health and Wellness Fair, which brought people together for support, education, and connection. These events offered practical resources, therapeutic activities like yoga, and spaces to share stories, building a strong foundation for the nonprofit’s mission.

Over time, A Pathway to Joy expanded its vision. Hannah’s Christian faith inspired the nonprofit to transition into a faith-based organization. By integrating spiritual and mental wellness, A Pathway to Joy now seeks to address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by young adults, Hannah envisioned a broader reach through initiatives like student ambassador programs at colleges. These programs focus on promoting mental health awareness on campuses through activities such as yoga, bake sales, and mental health clubs. While rooted in its faith-based mission, the student initiatives are designed to remain inclusive, solely emphasizing mental health support.

Through this growth, A Pathway to Joy has stayed true to its founding principles: offering love, support, and hope to those struggling with their mental health. By blending faith, education, and community, it continues to honor the memory of Hannah’s friend while building a legacy of joy and restoration for others.

Today, A Pathway to Joy is a beacon of hope for many, with plans to host faith-based mental health conferences and expand its impact nationwide. Its history is one of resilience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to spreading the message that joy and healing are always possible.

What makes A Pathway To Joy unique?

Our nonprofit is unique because of its community-first approach. We prioritize creating accessible, inclusive programs like Steps Against Suicide and Camp Joy. By combining education, intervention, and engagement, we build a stronger community that actively support mental health awareness. In addition, A Pathway To Joy team is fully volunteer based and ran solely by high school students and young adults.
